Sawadeeka/Oí/Hola everyone! My name is Meka and I am currently living in Siem Reap, Cambodia. I was born in China and raised in a small town on Lake Michigan in the USA /mitten state represent/. Even as a young girl I have always been very passionate about volunteer and traveling. My mom adopted me as a single mom and really made sure that I understood how much of a difference one person can make. Traveling the world has opened my eyes to everything that we can be doing to change and better the places we call home.
Growing up my mother made it her goal to make sure that I was exposed to different cultured and was shown the world. She would save her money every year to take me some place new /shoutout to my mum/. Because of my moms persistence in showing me the world it really taught me to be open minded and accepting at a young age. It also taught me to fall involve with countries instead of objects and toys.
Something important that I’ve learned while traveling is that a simple smile will get you a long way, communication barrier and all. A smile speaks a thousand words. & with that being said, this is why I want to share my adventures as a female solo traveler, volunteer, backpacker and someone who just loves the world to others who seek to do the same.
